To chemists, a Free Radical is a particle that's strongly likely to take part in a reaction; that reaction might be the creation of a new molecule, or the combustion of a molecule that strays too near the fire. Free Radical is a blog for disaffected social liberals hoping either to create a new order or eliminate a system past its prime.

There's not a whole lot that DOESN'T make me wish I was Dutch.
One of the problems that I'm not sure this author has really recognized (most people don't) is that social conservatives haven't just avoided a love-only sexual ethic - they've avoided a love-only MARRIAGE ethic. The purpose of sex to them is first and foremost to start the social unit known as Family, in tandem with a stable heterosexual counterpart. Ideally, you should love the guy you choose to have a family with, but that's simply icing on the cake of Social Order.
Those of us who favor premarital sex (yes, literally favor it) do so in part because we believe the basic social unit is the adult individual; not everybody agrees with us.
Yeah, I'm still coming to terms with that little fact.
I think we ALL are.
